Hi! I'm Stephanie, an artist and surface designer in coastal Carlsbad, California. My lifelong creative interests have lead me from graphic design to fine art to surface patterns. I love working by hand with various painting, drawing and printing techniques to create unique motifs for designing patterns in Adobe Illustrator. My designs often include botanical imagery and contrast organic shapes with structured geometrics. I seek simplicity with subtle textures, interesting shapes and a handmade quality to create an aesthetic that is both casual and refined.
My Story
Growing up in Canada I spent a lot of time outdoors, camping by a lake most summers. I learned to value a pristine environment and developed an interest in capturing the natural world with photography and art that guided my studies. After earning a Bachelor's in biological sciences, I returned to art for an Associate degree in graphic design. I now reside in California where the natural beauty continues to feed my artistic inspiration and creative expression.
While I had a career in real estate, an artistic life was in my heart and creative pursuits were continually by my side. Through ongoing studies my work has evolved to include watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, monoprint and surface design. I enjoy teaching, participating in fine art shows, art journaling and designing patterns to beautify products from my home studio.
I love the simple, quiet life (hello HSP's). I fill my cup by surrounding myself with beauty, whether in a gallery or garden, on a mountain top or in a museum. When not creating in the studio or kitchen, I'm walking on a trail or striking a yoga pose - it's where I get my best ideas!
